Ultimate Home Design This article documents the design and construction of the first Optimum Performance Home™. The project has been selected by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for inclusion in the national Leadership In Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®) for Homes pilot program, their new green build certification initiative. The home will be built at The Sea Ranch, on the coast of Northern California. Meline Engineering provided both the mechanical and plumbing system design. The mechanical system consists of a geothermal heat pump system tied to a vertical closed loop heat exchanger.
